Thanks to Cary High Interact, the Rotary Club, Reedy Creek families, and Mrs. Dorsey, the mountains of mulch on the side of the school have been spread along the beds. With all the extra hands, we moved these mountains in less than 2 hours! (And it was A LOT of mulch.) Thank you so much to our volunteers! The area looks so much better. A normal school year is faced with so many challenges, but trying to teach through a pandemic is overwhelming. Our PTA supports the staff throughout the year with snack treats, lunches, holiday gift cards and more! Thank you to Hospitality Chair, Renee Ashford for organizing these events! With the superior organization of Diversity/Outreach chair Kirsten O. and social worker, Ms. Person, Reedy Creek families were able to sponsor and meet the needs of 6 of our families this holiday season. Each child in the family received new clothes, shorts, and a holiday treat! Thanks to these ladies for helping with the big wrapping party! These programs show the difference that WE can make together! The Bedford Falls Book Fair was a huge success! Students, teachers and parents visited the Media Center to check out the great selection of books. Everyone was very excited to have the Book Fair back on campus. Through our PTA, a portion of the total sales is donated back to the Media Center. Mrs. Thrash will have over $2,000 to buy books and supplies. She already added over $900 in new books that will be on the shelves soon! Thank you to everyone who visited and purchased books! A special Thank You to our parent volunteers for taking time out of your day to help: Krista White, Claire Greene, Leah Sundheim, and Daniel Bunce! An EXTRA BIG SHOUT OUT to Mrs. Thrash and Book Fair chair, Liz Miller, who organized the event and made it run so smoothly! We are so happy that so many books got in the hands of our kids! We love celebrating our students! This quarter 416 students made the Honor Roll. Today, the PTA celebrated these hard working students with the Honors Dessert. Students received either sugar cookies or chocolate chip cookies. Thank you to Honors Dessert chair, Nicole Lewis, for ALL of these beautiful cookies! Thank you to volunteers Liz Miller and Claire Green for volunteering today and spreading the joy to our hardworking students! Our second Honors Dessert will be Friday, Jan 29. We hope to have even more Eagles visit our booth then! In August 2021, our school year started in person for all students for the first time since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. One concern was the possibility of spreading COVID during lunch period. PTA President, Nancy Haywood, worked with Principal Evans to arrange outdoor eating spaces for our students. Parents donated 16 picnic tables (which convert into benches) and umbrellas to create outdoor eating spaces that our students LOVE! Thank you to all the volunteers and families who donated money to create these new picnic tables for our student outdoor eating area! The front bed of the school was seriously overgrown and in need of a clean up. In September 2021, our volunteer grounds crew (which included Mr. Evans and Mr. Warren) did a great job of cleaning up the area so it no longer looks like a jungle in front of our school. Then we worked around the back of the school to prep the courtyard for outdoor eating area. A mountain of mulch to spread! |
